Christmas Eve… |
|
THE EVENT of Christmas holds for many the special memories of families gathered in the subdued light of worship. The strains of lowly hymns float softly to God through the Holy Spirit’s power. Hymn refrains such as “We Three Kings of Orient Are…” catch our inner beings as we consider the gift of revelation to both kings and shepherds. As a congregation composed of both great and small station, indeed at once sinners and saints, we marvel at the grace of God. It is almost incomprehensible love that God should choose to come here.., to this cold, sinful and uncaring world. The graceful revelation staggers our imaginations. “Star of Wonder, Star of Light… Star of Royal Beauty Bright…” rings out of the dark consciousness of hearts and minds. The Wise gather. Kings bow down. Shepherds feed their flocks at the manger beneath heavenly splendor. And the gathered soon realize the eternal meaning of the event. God has made peace present |

eternally in the world though the midst of sin and turmoil. And thus we behold the gift… a child is born who is Christ the Lord. Join with us this Christmas Eve to celebrate the gift of eternal peace beyond all understanding. Kneel at the altar and behold the babe born in Bethlehem. Our service at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Smethport begins at 11PM. |
